belated photos.....

Thought I'd throw in some photos from my booth at Urban Mining Homewares. Some weekend when I get a chance I'll put together a nice compilation of the booth photos, but for now here's just a glimpse of the projects I've done and pieces I've sold.

This was such a cute little old dresser/cabinet. I left the peeling paint for the shabbiness quality, sanded a little and painted the top a salmony pink. I put wheels on it to make it easier to move around. Picked it up for $10 and sold it for about $55. Wished I could have kept it but you know how that goes. You start keeping your favorites and your home space gets smaller and smaller until you just have a path throughout the rooms. I have a hard time parting with my pieces but am getting better and better.

The playground Duck-on-a-Spring ride was a painting I had done years and years ago in my early college days. I finally decided I could part with it. I had it in the booth for 3 months and hmmmm..... no interest was shown. I guess it stays with me. The cute shabby chair sold though.

A freebie ice cream parlor chair that my dad had dropped off in my garage.... I spray painted it with a brown textured paint that made it look like rust and then reupholstered it with an old curtain scrap of fabric. I've seen this same fabric in someone's blog just recently and absolutely love that fabric. I'm hoping someday I'll come across it again. I think this chair is the cutest.

This little cupboard was given to me by a friend that didn't have room for it anymore. It used to be a pink. I repainted it and shabbied it up a bit. It sold FAST! It's another that I wished I could have kept.

The wall hangings were made from repurposed screenprinting screens, leather belts for the straps that are riveted onto the pool cue sticks. I thought these would be fun in a teen's room.

This last photo could be used as a partition. I created it from old placemats that my mom had. I punched holes in each one. Using multi-colored rivets that had been stored in an old children's vitamin bottle, I clamped all the rivets into the holes. The only thing I spent money on were the 2 packages of keychain rings. Those were the darndest things to try to thread through those rivets.... but I finally got 'em all. The images are all of Wyoming except one Oklahoma pic.

Looking back on the 2009 year and the projects I've done, I realize how much I love this JuNk!

my daughter.... the librarian

Erryn is so CoMiCal. She stopped by tonight after work and told me about her day at the library. She's being forced to take a course. Several lessons are involved and her first one was to create a blog. Hah! I loved the comment she made about me having a blog before she did!

The MeTaMoRpHaSiS.....

The blog is finally taking shape. I don't know how others have gotten their blogs to look like they do. It has taken most of my Christmas vacation to get as far as I've gotten with this. Hopefully I can continue and make this a very successful site for creative people to come to for inspiration and a smile. Give me time and please come back and visit, comment and grow with me.

Soon I'll get images posted too.

Happy, happy NeW YeAr!!!!!

It's 5 AM and I've been working on this bLoG all night. This is the bEgiNniNg of a NeW cHapTeR in my life. A new year, new changes, new friends, new and improved me. I love most anything vintage, shabby chic, repurposed, rusty, antique, retro, . . . . old. I'm like my Dad. I love auctions, estate sales, junk stores, dumpster diving, digging through treasures, . . . .

So, as I get ready to lay my head down on this pillow, with my polyester quilt (handmade by Grandmother) to keep me warm, I invite you to begin this new chapter, this new year with me. Celebrating new BeGiNnIngS, new FrIeNdShipS,  and new AdVeNtUrEs in our ever changing lives.

Opening day for the antique booth

Two quick.... very quick weeks in the making!!!! This is my new antique and repurposed "junk" booth at a local hot spot. A dream come true.

Here's the low down on how this came about. I just happened to take my best friend by this little flea market, shabby chic, vintage junk, antique shop a few Saturdays ago. I'd been there each month on their sale days and kept telling her that she needed to visit it. We finally made a day of antiquing and ended up at this one just before closing time.
The was the first time I'd ever been in the right place at the right time. A co-worker of mine just happened to have her own booth in this shop and she just so happened to be there that night. I began to quiz her about it. Found out all the details and then she asked if I wanted to be put on the waiting list. Sure..... of course I would. The night progressed and within the next hour after closing, Becky and I ended up with a booth in the next sale event which was only two weeks away.

We began scrambling for stuff. Ransacking our basements, storage rooms, boxes, closets, drawers, neighbors houses, trying to gather enough stuff to fill 80 square feet.
Late nights, long nights, we planned and delved into the unknown world of being a bonafide "dealer".

Today is the opening day of the sale and I do believe we may be successful at this. The green chair was walking away within the morning........ whoo hoo.
That was a freebee my dad threw into my garage one day. Surprise!!!! Need a place to store this ugly thing! Well, I chose to paint it, sand it and some wonderful artsy woman paid $60 for it!!!! Can you believe that????

I had 3 hours of sleep last night........ not sure yet if it's worth it.

Here's more shots.
